Behind the Music

Meet the band that's Takin' Care of Christmas β€” the musicians, the magic, and the stories behind the most rockin' holiday show on earth.

I've been writing songs my whole life, but Santa Elvis came to me like a bolt of lightning in a red jumpsuit. I wanted to create something that captured the pure joy of Christmas and the undeniable cool of rock and roll β€” two things that, in my heart, always belonged together. Turns out the North Pole has great acoustics.

Growing up, Elvis was the soundtrack of our holidays. My family would crank up the Christmas records, and there was just something magical about that voice filling the room. I thought β€” what if Santa had that same energy? What if he didn't just deliver gifts, but delivered them with a little hip shake and a whole lot of heart? The elves in the workshop have never been the same since.

Writing this book was one of the most fun things I've ever done. I wanted kids β€” and the kids inside every adult β€” to feel that same electricity I felt hearing Elvis for the first time. Santa Elvis isn't just a character. He's a feeling. And I hope when you read this book, you feel it too. Thank you, thank you very much.

Lead Guitar

Roland Green

I'm Roland Green, lead guitarist for Santa Elvis and the TCC Band β€” Takin' Care of Christmas. I've been playing guitar since I could barely reach the strings, and every riff I play is a love letter to rock and roll. When Santa Elvis called me up to join the band, I knew this was going to be something special. There's nothing quite like cranking up a scorching lead solo while the snow falls outside and the crowd goes wild. Some elves make toys β€” I make noise. We don't just play Christmas music β€” we make it rock, and we make it roll all the way down Candy Cane Lane.

Kody Martens

I'm Kody Martens, lead and rhythm guitarist for Santa Elvis and the TCC Band β€” Takin' Care of Christmas. I wear two hats every night β€” laying down the rhythm foundation that keeps the band locked in tight, then stepping up for the leads when it's time to let loose. Playing both roles means I'm always in the music, always in the moment. They say you can't be in two places at once, but every night I prove that wrong. Christmas has never sounded this good, and I wouldn't have it any other way β€” unless it involved more guitar solos, which it usually does.

Bass

Spencer Rawlins

I'm Spencer Rawlins, bass player for Santa Elvis and the TCC Band β€” Takin' Care of Christmas. The bass is the heartbeat of the band β€” it's what makes you feel the music deep in your chest before you even realize you're moving. I lock in with Lowell every night to build the groove that lets Santa Elvis do his thing up front. People always ask me why I play bass instead of guitar. I tell them β€” anybody can play the notes. I play the feeling. I lay down the low end so the whole band can soar, and I wouldn't trade this gig for all the presents under the tree. Well... maybe for a really good present.

Drums

Lowell Thompson

I'm Lowell Thompson, drummer for Santa Elvis and the TCC Band β€” Takin' Care of Christmas. They say the drummer is the engine of the band, and I take that seriously every single night. I keep the beat so tight that even the reindeer can't help but stomp along β€” Dasher's got great timing, by the way. There's something magical about sitting behind the kit on Christmas Eve, sticks in hand, watching the crowd light up when Santa Elvis hits the stage. I drive this sleigh, I set the tempo, and I love every single second of it. Ho ho hold onto your hats β€” the TCC Band is coming to town.

Disa Terce

I'm Disa Terce, one half of the Sweet Elfettes β€” the backup singers who keep Santa Elvis sounding smooth as eggnog. I've been harmonizing since I was a tiny elf in the workshop choir, and there's nothing I love more than hitting those high notes on a cold Christmas night. My vocal warm-ups involve hot cocoa and humming Jingle Bell Rock until the other elves beg me to stop β€” which I never do. When Santa Elvis asked us to join the TCC Band β€” Takin' Care of Christmas β€” Nikki and I didn't even have to think twice. We were born for this stage, and this stage was built for us.

Backing Vocals

Nikki Winn

I'm Nikki Winn, the other half of the Sweet Elfettes. Disa and I have been singing together since forever, and we bring the holiday harmony that makes every TCC Band β€” Takin' Care of Christmas β€” show something truly magical. I once held a note so long that a snowflake landed on my tongue mid-performance. The crowd went wild. There's nothing like the feeling of the crowd singing along, the lights twinkling, and Santa Elvis doing his thing up front. We've got his back β€” and his high notes β€” every single night. Uh huh huh.
